Mechwarrior Personal File AFFC-CM101378-09D
Subject: Rhodes, William Arthur
Birthdate: 5.5.3042
Homeworld: Radcliffe, Kathil, Capellan March, Federated Suns

William is the son and only child of James and Karen Rhodes, both former technicians at the Yare Industries microwave uplink station on Kathil. William grew up obsessed with the mech games of Solaris VII , being a huge fan of champions such as Gray Norton, Amanda Hamilton, and of course, Kai Allard-Liao. From a young age, he was determined to be a mechwarrior, much to his parents’ chagrin.

Age age 16, William entered the Warrior’s Hall on New Syrtis and graduated with high marks in 3062. Though he was offered a billet in the Syrtis Fusiliers, William requested a post in the Kathill CMM instead since his father was then dying of cancer. Being an only child, the Capellan March High Command granted the request.

James Rhodes passed away in October of 3062, shortly before the outbreak of hostilities on Kathil, when the Katrina-loyalist 8th Federated Commonwealth RCT (The Katzbalger) refused Field Marshal George Hasek’s orders to relocate to Halloran V. A botched attempt to arrest the command staff of the Katzbalgers led to open combat between them and the Kathil CMM. Kathil soon became a world embroiled in fierce fighting for control of the valuable McKenna orbital shipyards.

William by all reports fought bravely as an Enforcer III pilot under the command of Task Force Serpent veteran David McCarthy. During the first two years of fighting, William saw frequent action and was wounded twice by hits to his cockpit. However during one assault, the containment field on his mech’s fusion reactor was destroyed by an enemy PPC, forcing Rhodes to eject from his doomed mech.

Dispossessed, William bitterly sat out the rest of the fighting on Kathil filling a desk at headquarters. Disenchanted with the politics and feuding of the Great Houses, and horrified by the violence of the FedCom Civil War, Rhodes left the AFFC in 3067 and decided to try his hand at mercenary work. Hearing of the Legionnaires and their excellent reputation, William purchased a jumpship ticket to Tau Ceti IV and set off to find his new destiny.

William is a man looking for a purpose in life. He feels naked without a mech and his patriotism to the now defunct Federated Commonwealth has been completely burned out of him. Once he believed there was a chance for peace in the Inner Sphere, but a new found cynicysm has taken root since the failure of the grand experiment that was the FedCom and the dissolution of the briefly viable new Star League. For now he is going to focus on what he loves best: piloting a mech...if he can only get his hands on one.

William is currently twenty five years old. Lanky but strong, he keeps his blond hair shaven close to the scalp to aid contact with the receptors in a neurohelmet. He has intense blue eyes with a small scar over his left eyebrow from a shrapnel wound on Kathil.

In combat, he usually carries an antique Tikonov Mark VII heavy laser pistol that his father gave him as a gift. The Mark VII is very similar to the custom built Mark VI that was made uniquely for Chancellor Maximillian Liao and Colonel Pavel Ridzik prior to the Fourth Succession War.

William's old ENF-6M Enforcer III, which was destroyed on Kathil, was named Bucephalus, after the favorite horse of Alexander the Great. If he ever gets another mech to call his own, he probably will use the name again.
