I entered Ben's quarters, the lighting was low but it still revealed the prescence of another with him. As my eyes adjusted, I tensed up. I hadn't expected Pheonix to be here, but he was. Ben and Pheonix had no casual relationship that I knew of so I assumed that this was a matter of great significance. My case and my credibility would be torn to shreds if I were to disrupt whatever it was that was happening here. The clone stood straighter, feeling just as threatened as I was.
Come in Desparado. Ben gestured feebly for me to enter but I remained at the door, waving a hand with refusal. Uhhh... Actually. I just came to see how you were doing. It... kinda looked like you had taken a rough ride in your Dire Wolf. I hid behind the lie because Ben didn't need this right now. As I came to think it, nobody did. Ben responded but I didn't pay any attention. I glared at Pheonix once more before excusing myself, saying that that was all I had come for. I left disappointed and feeling completely dissatisfied. It wouldn't be fair to Ben right now for me to start a conflict in our own ranks, for now it would have to be a cold war with Phoenix. I ignored my hand, still throbbing sore and began walking to the bridge. Perhaps Captain Garland had already ordered a new course for us, I pushed the confrontational issue from my mind and busied myself with matters of Legionnaires business. -------------------- Position : Captain | LEGIONNAIRES

Though Desparado made a valiant effort to downplay the reason he'd come to speak to the Major, the fact of the matter was, the Captain was a terrible liar. My - Ben's - years of personnel management had made him a bit of an adept at studying human behavior, and Desparado's sudden change in demeanor upon his realization of my presence made it quite clear that he had originally come to the Major with one subject in mind - me. And it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how that conversation would have unfolded, and frankly, the fact that Desparado wanted to hide behind the Major, dumping all his dirty laundry and him rather than confront me - a mere subordinate - directly, came as a mortal insult and a sign of a man who'd stab me in the back the first chance he got.
But that was fine by me. If it was war he wanted, I was prepared to bring it to him. - END - -------------------- Position : MechWarrior | LEGIONNAIRES
